Maricopa Trail with 1oo Miles in 100 Days Challenge participants and Solo

I am once again participating in the Maricopa County 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge. It was during last years Challenge that I transitioned from reluctant hiker to hiker. I’m looking forward to what this years Challenge brings!
I can’t imagine a better place than the desert to watch a sunrise
The Parks and Rec Dept kicked off this years Challenge with a 3 mile group hike on the Maricopa Trail with County Supervisor Bill Gates (yes, that’s his name) and a morning news spot… with an interview with me!
It’s time to face my fears and get back out there, alone!

Running Total:  264.2 Hiking Miles
Total Elevation Gain 347 feet

Beardsley and Wild Burrow Trails – Lake Pleasant with a Friend

I love sunrises but let’s face it, I am not a morning person. Thankfully it’s starting to cool off here in Phoenix which means I can sleep in a bit longer on hike days.
Wild burro sightings are always a treat!
You know you have a good hiking partner when 7 miles feels like nothing!
My first love is the water, my second love is the desert. Lake Pleasant gives them both to me.

Running Total:  271.2 Hiking Miles
Total Elevation Gain 966 feet

Zero biking miles

409.7 Total Hiking and Biking Miles toward 500 Miles in 2017
